Because of how hard a kiwi can be to peel when done the wrong way (using a knife to try and carefully cut off the peel without wasting half of the fruit), I’ve always avoided buying kiwi, even though it is one of the tastiest and healthiest fruits on the planet!
After being served kiwi at school a few years back, my daughter came home and told me it was her new favorite food, and when my kids insist on eating something that is actually healthy, I naturally want to stock up on it. Sometimes she eats a dozen of them a week, and with all of this kiwi peeling going on, I knew I had to find a better way to get the skin off without wasting half of the fruit– not to mention how time consuming it had become! A spoon! I’ve found this to be the easiest and quickest way to peel a kiwi fruit without wasting any of the fruit. As you can see from the video, just push a regular sized spoon into the fruit, and roll it along the edge of the skin. It will pop right out!
The kiwi has to be ripe in order for the spoon to actually cut through the fruit, but who wants to eat an unripe kiwi, anyway? When picking out your kiwis at the grocery store, try to find kiwis that are soft but not mushy. An over ripe kiwi is almost as bad as an unripe kiwi.
